game changers: KEEN pushes the shoe industry into the future

Outdoor lifestyle brand KEEN has been innovating the way people wear shoes for the last 15 years, but its 'World's Smallest Shoe Factory' may be the ultimate game changer.

KEEN is driving the industry with its Uneekbot, a mobile machine with shoe automation technology. According to Footwear News, its uniqueness comes from its ability to produce shoes in a matter of minutes all while reducing the company's environmental impact.

We are committed to ensuring that the materials we use in our products are safe for employees, customers, and the environment. We voluntarily push beyond industry standards, researching sustainable chemistry in our manufacturing processes, a progressive example being our use of probiotic technology for natural odor control.

KEEN states on its e-commerce site that it is progressively working towards more sustainable methods. One goal of the Uneekbot is to provide customers with customizable, same-day shoe manufacturing and production. It produces an outdoor sandal with bungee material designed for comfort.

While the technology is being perfected, the company is taking its mini shoe factory on a national tour to expose people innovation that could shape the growth of the industry. First introduced in Japan, the machine was showcased in Portland earlier this month and to students at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles in April.

The unique design of the Uneek shoe makes it a strong fashion statement but it is also functional with its focus on comfort.

KEEN is available online as well as outdoor lifestyle stores.
